چکیده
Understanding how river bedload responds to climate and land use changes water resource management initiatives is critical in developing sustainable approaches management. Passive monitoring techniques permit investigation of interannual dependencies transport high resolution, including sediment supply factors. Here, seismic impact plate records are processed using a probabilistic model BedLoad from Impact Plates derive 5-year data set at 5-min intervals for the lower River Avon, Devon, UK. For years that range very dry wet, annual coarse yields estimated vary through two orders magnitude with wide prediction intervals. The most effective discharge occurs consistently about one-third bankfull flow, morphologically “subbarfull” stage, result hysteretic trends falling limb this non-threshold channel. A two-phase rating curve revealed variable related “bulge” during in-bank flows, giving way near-linear trend overbank flows. component predicted well sensitivity style metric combines cumulative duration competent flows magnitude-duration product near-threshold defining field-scale exemplar “stress history.” Further, relative proportion yield relates strongly wetness previous year. High multiyear reveal controls on dynamics unique site's hydrogeoclimatic context position basin. holds promise generating “type sites” behavior improving aquatic biodiversity sustainability

Sediment budget monitoring of debris-flow and bedload transport in the Manival Torrent, SE France
Steep mountain catchments typically experience large sediment pulses from hillslopes which are stored in headwater channels and remobilized by debris-flows or bedload transport. Event-based sediment budget monitoring in the active Manival debris-flow torrent in the French Alps during a two-year period gave insights into the catchment-scale sediment routing during moderate rainfall intensities w...
متن کاملThe Effect of Convergence and Divergence on Flow Pattern and Sediment Transport in Lateral Intakes
Water supply at a desired rate at any time to meet the water requirements regardless of river discharge must be considered in the general design of intakes provided that the needs do not exceed the river flow. Due to the lack of necessary information in this field and the importance of sediment transport to the lateral intakes at river bends, this study aimed at understanding the mechanism of t...
متن کاملSediment Transport in Unsteady Flow Conditions
Sediment transport under unsteady flow condition is studied experimentally. In the first step, sediment transport under different steady flow conditions was measured and an empirical equation was derived for its calculation. In the next step, two continuous and three stepwise hydrographs were generated in the flume, and their sediment transport rate was measured. The continuous hydrographs were...
متن کاملUncertainties in Evaluation of the Sediment Transport Rates in Typical Coarse-Bed Rivers in Iran
Flow and sediment transport processes are different and more complex in coarse-bed rivers than in sand-bed rivers. The main goal of the present study is to evaluate different modes of sediment transport using different hydrometric and hydraulic methods, and to address the major uncertainties. Four river reaches were selected as representatives of coarse-bed rivers in the Northwest of Iran. A se...
متن کاملDense granular flow rheology in turbulent bedload transport
The local granular rheology is investigated numerically in turbulent bedload transport. Considering spherical particles, steady uniform configurations are simulated using a coupled fluid-discrete-element model. The stress tensor is computed as a function of the depth for a series of simulations varying the Shields number, the specific density and the particle diameter. The results are analyzed ...
